Currently Senior Manager, Operations at the Australian Payments Clearing Association Limited (APCA). APCA is the industry body that sets, manages and develops regulations, procedures and standards governing payments clearing and settlement in Australia.
Prior to joining APCA, was with the Reserve Bank of Australia for more than twenty years, in various policy departments of the Bank. Secretary to the Reform of Clearing System steering committee in 1991-92, immediately prior to leaving the RBA. On secondment to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet in 1975 (for 9 months) and to the International Monetary Fund (as Economist) from 1976 to 1979.
Strong interest in monetary policy and in the development of the financial system. Worked closely on various tasks leading to implementing changes that flowed from “Inquiries” to de-regulate the Australian financial system. Specific involvement included the licensing of foreign exchange dealers, participation and licensing of foreign banks, bank supervision, payments clearing arrangements, and settlement arrangements including RTGS.
