Biography
I'm a plankton ecologist because these tiny organisms have a profound influence on the Earth's climate and the functioning of aquatic ecosystems. Over the past 12 years, my research in North America and Australia has made a significant contribution to understanding the development of harmful algal blooms, the transport of introduced species via ships' ballast water and the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients, including bioaccumulation pathways for the trace element selenium.
I'm passionate about using science to make a difference, which is why I'm excited to be working within C3,in the Aquatic Processes Group where I lead the Coastal Oceanography Team
