Who: Dr Ross Jeffree, C3 Adjunct Professor
•Where did you go?
Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE) Conference, entitled:RADIATION 2012 Radioprotection: Past, Present and Future
At Lucas Heights, Sydney
•What did you do there?
I gave an invited paper entitled; Marine Radioprotection Philosophy from Anthropocentrism to Eco-Ethics
Two things stood out for me
i) a paper given on the Australian contribution to the Cern Hadron Collider program by Geoffrey Taylor, from the University of Melbourne
ii) positive comments and enthusiasm by colleagues (especially the younger generation!) for an Eco-Ethics philosophical approach to marine protection from radioactivity.
Some requests to present this work at an upcoming conference, invitations to present at other universities- this support gives me energy to keep on developing the philosophy and science of eco-ethics-based environmental protection.
