Health Technology Assessment Subject to be offered at UTS in Spring Semester 2013

The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is delighted to offer a new subject – Health Technology Assessment. This subject is aimed for those working in the health technology industries including medical devices, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, as well as health and medical researchers and policy makers aiming to gain an understanding of economic evaluation as applied to health technologies. The subject aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the principles, techniques and real world application of health technology assessment. This will include learning about study design, systematic review, evidence synthesis, patient outcomes and economic modelling. It will
also provide an understanding of HTA in Australia, including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and Medicare Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) processes.
