Workshop: Understanding health economics in medical oncology research (at MOGA)

As part of the Cancer Australia Support for Clinical Trials program the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) has been contracted to establish a dedicated Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST) to provide high quality, expert advice and support to existing and new Multi-site Colaborative National Cancer Clinical Trials Groups.  Capacity building is a key component of the services available from CREST, and we are please to announce a CREST workshop to be held in the 2011 MOGA ASM Program.

This workshop is for medical oncologists and those working in related fields who may encounter health economics in research papers, in policy documents, or who would like to consider how health economics may be incorporated into their own practice or research. Participants to the workshop will receive a book of course notes, which will include copies of the slides presented on the day, references used as examples throughout the workshop, and additional useful readings.

The program will include:
Introduction to health economics and economic evaluation in research
Study design for economic evaluation in medical oncology research
Identifying, valuing and measuring outcomes and costs
Interpretation of results of economic evaluations

Please see the Workshop Announcement for more information.
