The Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building is a short walk from Sydney's Central train station and the Railway Square bus stop. Located in Ultimo, it is just south of the city's central business district, and close to Surry Hills, Glebe, Newtown, Pyrmont and Darling Harbour. It enjoys all the facilities of China Town and Broadway.

The Faculty has its own dedicated building, Building 6, within the City Campus of UTS, and is located at 702-730 Harris Street, Ultimo, NSW. The building is known as the Peter Johnson Building.

Built in 1994, Building 6 is named in honour of Emeritus Professor Johnson, UTS Chancellor from 1988-1998. Along with modern facilities, the building houses the Guthrie Theatre on Level 3, named in honour of Professor Gus Guthrie, UTS Vice Chancellor from 1988-1996.
