Anthony Burke, Ben Hewitt, David Burns and several students laboured on Monday 6 October in the Iron Architect event at Customs house as part of architecture week.
In the second of this series presented by DARCH*, a number of young thought-provoking and talented Sydneysiders were put to the challenge of reshaping our city. In a frenetic and energetic display of team work, these creative teams had three hours to complete a design task that city planners have been pondering for centuries: the perfect city. With only what they have at hand, teams will create physical models to explain concepts from sustainability, densification and place making, through to public transport, education and history.
This event took advantage of the city model located below the glass floor at Customs House, providing the perfect opportunity to propose and speculate about our future.
