John Sheehan Addresses Global Audience On Transferable Development Rights

In his role as ambassador-at-large for the UTS: Asia-Pacific Centre for Complex Real Property Rights, Professor John Sheehan recently joined planning, law and property rights experts for the 6th International Annual Planning, Law, and Property Rights Conference, hosted by the University of Ulster's School of the Built Environment, in Belfast.

John presented his ongoing research on “Transferable development rights as a tool for accommodating property rights impacted by coastal erosion or sea-level rise". This research captured the attention of local media with John being interviewed by the Belfast Telegraph. The UTS: APCCRPR hosted a regional symposium for the PLPR last year.  The PLPR focus is: Planning matters. Law matters. Property matters. These 3 simple messages inspire the growing PLPR community to examine the difficult relationship between public and private interests in the use of land.
