Graduate students in Design and Architecture recently completed a three-week consultancy for the Sydney Opera House. While the details must remain confidential the task involved improving security around the site. The creativity of the solutions proposed surprised and excited the clients who face a range of problems made all the more difficult due to the world heritage listing of the Opera House. The task was one in an ongoing series managed by the Designing Out Crime Centre for reducing crime through design intervention in retail housing, late night venues, housing estates and other places where nasty things happen.
