Monique De Souza, fourth year Industrial Design student has won first prize in the inaugural Embody 3D Australian Student Industrial Design Writing Competition (opens an external site).
Third year UTS Industrial Design students have also participated in a number of projects and awards in which they have excelled.
This year a number of 3rd year UTS Industrial Design students entered the Southern Cross Packaging Design Award. ID students Alexandra Brayshaw and Nicholas Pinkstone were both awarded a Commendation prize, and Michael Newton a Bronze prize in this year's competition.
ID students also participated in an industry-based competition from Tommee Tippee to design products for toilet training young children. The winning award of $500 was awarded to Michelle Pickrell for her 'Toilet Time' design that considered all elements around toilet training including the importance of hygiene and washing of hands.
Third year ID student Andrew Hambly has also been recognised as one of the ten finalists in the Reece Bathroom Innovation Award 2010 Student Section.
