Rick Best and Peter Smith from the School of Built Environment, have been awarded at the recent celebration for the Centenary of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS).
Rick Best, having worked closely with the AIQS for a variety of roles, received the President's Gold Medal for services to the institute and the quantity surveying profession.

He has served on the NSW Chapter Council of the Institute, has been chair of two national committees for some years as well as being a regular contributor to the Institute's journal.

Peter Smith, awarded the Gold Medal several years ago, was again recognised for his contribution to further education in the profession and for his service to the International Cost Engineering Council and the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors.

Rick and Peter were presented their awards by the NSW Chapter President, Michael Manikas, a UTS graduate and former student of both Rick and Peter.
