The UTS Centre for New Writing hosted the premier event of the "Creative Connections" series featuring a conversation with renowned scientist and polymath Barry Jones AO and Les Murray, Australia’s most admired poet. The conversation was moderated by Geordie Williamson, chief literary critic at the Australian.
The event titled "Weaving the Rainbow: The Poet and the Scientist Speak" led to discussion between Les Murray and Barry Jones AO around this topic area. Ever since the romantic poet John Keats accused Newton of trying to unweave the rainbow, science and poetry have lost a common tongue. In this conversation, Jones and Murray each discussed and shared views on how science and arts might regain a shared language for wonder.
