Tara Croft

Electrical engineering and medical science graduate, 2007

The opportunity to complete a total of 12 months of work experience as part of my degree was a major drawcard, as getting hands-on industry practice provides many career benefits. The Industrial Experience was highly beneficial for me in both increasing my knowledge of real workplace practices and in aligning my focuses for study. Breaking up semesters of study with work also provided an enjoyable contrast. The mix between spending time in lectures, interactive tutorials and hands-on labs was a rewarding one.

UTS:Engineering helped prepare me for work in industry by providing subjects in which a myriad of scenarios and topics related to work in the real world. I am currently working with Nanosonics as a Verification & Validation Coordinator.

I was actively involved in the Hockey Club as well as the Engineering Society whilst studying at UTS, which made for an enjoyable balance to the demands of studying full time. I enjoy being active and still play hockey for the UTS club. In most classes at UTS, I found students to be supportive of each other and willing to assist - in fact cooperation & support between students was a key memory I took away from my studies at UTS.

In my experience, the UTS community is generally one of diversity with a rewarding atmosphere. Supportive staff and teamwork between students were an integral part of my experience at UTS:Engineering.
