An eye open in the dark: Recent graduate Jane Palmer’s doctoral research was a response to the following question: Can the life stories of old people be a source of understanding the past which can inform planning for sustainability in the future?

Deliberative democracy practitioners meet on two continents: The different ways in which stakeholders and citizens are considered, spoken about and involved in decision making were the subject of a recent research workshop co-facilitated by ISF’s Jade Herriman. The workshop was the culmination of a 16 month collaboration between ISF, Twyfords and the University of Alberta in Canada that is investigating the delineation between stakeholder and citizen roles in public deliberation.

Parkes leading the way on sustainable energy: Parkes Shire Council (PSC) are implementing a raft of initiatives that will deliver significant financial and environmental benefits to the Council and their community by reducing energy use and generating local energy from renewable or low carbon sources.
