Tourism that sustains local culture and the environment: Preliminary findings from two sustainable tourism research projects that the Institute is leading were presented to delegates from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries a workshop in Cusco, Peru on 23rd and 24th March by ISF’s Louise Boronyak, John Glassmire and Associate Professor Mick Paddon.
Reconceptualising the urban jungle: As cities like Sydney become increasingly populous, is it possible to create the experience of nature in a dense urban environment? What is the potential for ‘green roofs’ and ‘green walls’ to bring nature to the cityscape and enhance the sustainability of urban environments?
Peak Minerals: new report and workshop: Researchers from the Institute and Monash University have produced a new review paper for the Mineral Futures Collaboration Cluster research project that examines how the benefits and impacts of mineral resource extraction and processing in Australia are changing. The Cluster is holding a stakeholder forum in Sydney on 29 April to discuss the challenges of how to address the declining accessibility of high quality resources and the role new technology will play if Australia intends to remain a key global minerals supplier.
New faces at ISF: Following a very successful recruitment round we are pleased to welcome several new staff to the Institute.
