Wind Power: addressing community concerns: In August, the Nature Conservation Council of NSW launched a new report on the potential role of wind power in NSW.
The report, researched and written by the Institute’s Chris Riedy and James Lewis, provides balanced information on the benefits of wind farms, criticisms of wind farms and the ways that wind farm development can be improved to respond to community concerns

New guide for home buyers : As project homes constitute about 80% of new housing in Australia, it makes sense to target this market if we are serious about wanting to reduce the environmental impact of housing. Following a successful partnership with Investa to produce the Green Lease Guide (see Feb07 Wrap), Clarendon Residential Group (a division of Investa Property Group) has asked ISF to research and write a Home Buyers Guide for the general home-purchasing public.

Staff profile: Lisa Lee: Lisa Lee joined ISF in July 2007 as a research consultant to assist in research projects that involve economic analysis and policy development.

Support for UTS-wide sustainability research : The recently created, fixed term position of UTS Sustainability Business Development Manager has been taken up by Chris Davis, who was previously the CEO of the Australian Water Association for over 15 years. Chris’s role is to promote UTS’s sustainability research skills and to facilitate collaborative research.
