Biography

Jade Herriman joined the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) in February 2006. Jade has 10 years experience in sustainability research and project management, with a background in ecology and environmental biology and experience in options analysis, program design and review, policy development, cost benefit analysis, and participatory processes. Her work at the Institute for Sustainable Futures has focused on community engagement and education, social research, decision making and strategic planning approaches to environmental management and sustainability including sustainability indicators, particularly within local government.

Prior to working at ISF she worked in environmental management and organisational change for sustainability in Local Government. At ISF she has worked with numerous local government organisations, assisting them in their journey to devise locally appropriate planning and monitoring frameworks, including Gosford, Hornsby, Hawkesbury, and Hunter’s Hill Councils. Jade has also worked on developing an Integrated Coastal Zone Management Policy for Malaysia, City Development Strategies in Vietnam and a Danish Government initiated global citizens deliberative democracy project ‘World Wide Views on Global Warming’.

Jade is particularly interested in community scale responses to sustainability challenges, the role of creativity in more sustainable lives, and in better understanding individual, social and organizational processes as they relate to decision making and change for sustainability.
