Biography

Mick Paddon has joined ISF from UTS's Centre for Local Government. Originally trained in economics and the social sciences he has particular expertise in innovative approaches to strategic, integrated and sustainable development and the economic, social and political impacts of organisational change focussing on the public sector and public services and utilities. He has over twenty years experience of working as an academic and policy adviser to governments at local, state and national levels in Australia, the UK and throughout Asia, to international bodies, including the UN and ILO, and to national and international NGOs. In the past five years he has worked on international projects of evaluation and capacity building in Nepal, the Philippines and Vietnam leading teams of international and local advisers and researchers.
He has worked in four Universities in Australia, including several years as Director of the Public Sector Research Centre (PSRC) at the University of New South Wales.
Prior to coming to Australia he headed a national association of local government in the UK and worked for local government's main advisory and resource organisation after several years leading research in innovative councils and council organisations. He has also researched and taught in four UK Universities.
