Registered nurse education to remain in universities

On Friday 14 September the Prime Minister announced that the Australian Government will invest about $170 million additional funds to deliver hospital based training for enrolled nurses.

The plan does not affect the education of registered nurses, who currently complete university degrees such as the UTS Bachelor of Nursing to gain their qualification.

Trainee enrolled nurses are currently educated primarily in the TAFE system, and upon receiving their enrolled nurse qualification work under the direction and supervision of registered nurses.
