UTSpeaks: Your certain death

How can we maintain control of our end-of-life experiences?

That death comes to us all is certain. But what are not certain are the circumstances of our deaths and the experiences we and our loved ones must share at the end.

How can we prepare for death? How should we plan for long, painful or debilitating terminal illness? Is it essential that we communicate our most profound wishes on how we choose to die to our family and carers?

This public lecture asks us to confront some of the most significant questions we must consider as individuals, carers and health professionals. With expert UTS speakers from nursing and medicine, it deals with the myths and realities of dying and touches on the euthanasia debate. It explores how we can maintain power and choice at the end of life and will conclude with a moderated interactive forum.

In particular, she advocates for integrating a palliative approach in care models to improve advance-care planning and symptom management.
