Apple and Microsoft product recall - electrical hazards

Apple adapter

Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the two prong Apple AC wall plug adapters designed for use in a number of countries including, Australia may break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched.

Apple have established an exchange program for consumers who may have purchased the faulty adapters between 2003 to 2015.

You can view images of the affected adaptors on the AC Wall Plug Adapter Exchange Program website (opens the Apple website).

What the IT Division are doing

The current Exchange program that Apple is running is applicable to individual consumers. ITD have inquired with Apple about arranging bulk exchanges for UTS staff who purchased a faulty adapter through IT Purchasing.

We are currently working on specific exchange arrangements for staff in these circumstances.

What you can do in the meantime

Meanwhile, if you think you are using a faulty adaptor you can either

  • Exchange your adapter(s) at your local Apple Store or an Authorised Apple Service Provider.
  • Request a replacement via the web
