I've loved mathematics since I was young, always fascinated with numbers and the mathematical relationships that define our world. I chose this combined degree because I think it’s quite useful to see where and how I can apply the knowledge I’ve gained in my mathematics studies to my engineering studies.

I also felt that a mathematics degree would help me to think rigorously and logically about the solutions to problems, which is beneficial in solving real-world problems. In fact, at my current job as a software engineer, I was told that the main reason they hired me was because of my mathematics degree, which demonstrates to them that I was analytical, capable of reasoning, think logically and problem-solve.

Although science is my minor degree, I think that UTS: Science offers high quality courses, the practical focus provides good preparation for future employment.

I chose UTS because they have a strong focus on teaching and learning. The academic staff members are always willing to help, and actually care about their students. This leads to a very collegial atmosphere, which I think facilitates learning well.
