China Scholarship Council (CSC) and UTS PhD Scholarship - CHINA

The joint China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) are collaborating to provide scholarships to qualified students from the People's Republic of China to undertake high quality research education and study at UTS.

UTS is offering tuition fee scholarships each year to students from the People's Republic of China who are recipients of the CSC Scholarship for full PhD studies at UTS, including dual doctoral degree. UTS also accepts students into our non-award 1-2 years Visiting Research Student Program and welcomes other Postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars (who are recipients of other CSC scholarships).

Value and duration

This joint CSC-UTS scholarship offers financial assistance for a period of maximum 48 months. CSC will provide successful applicants with a living allowance scholarship as prescribed from time to time by the Chinese Government. UTS will provide scholarship support equivalent to the cost of full tuition fee as during their enrolment at UTS. Continuous provision of the Scholarship each year is subject to satisfactory academic performance and progression.

All scholarships at UTS are dependent upon satisfactory progress.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must:

  • Be Chinese citizens or permanent residents of China;
  • Have received an unconditional offer of admission to the UTS PhD program;
  • Intend to pursue a PhD in one of the priority academic research areas identified by CSC and/or within the UTS Research Focus Areas.

Selection process

The final selection for the joint CSC-UTS Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Scholarship will be made by CSC on the basis of academic merit.


UTS Application Process:
CSC applicants have to submit an application to UTS Graduate Research School by the application deadline. Please indicate on the application your sponsor is CSC.

CSC Application Process:
After you have followed the UTS application process, you will then need to apply for the CSC scholarship by their application deadline.

Closing date: 15 January 2018
